Ashanti and Musiq were the big winners Saturday night at the 17th annual Soul Train Music Awards. Ashanti, who caused some controversy last summer when ''Soul Train'' gave the rookie songstress its Aretha Franklin Entertainer of the Year awards at its Lady of Soul Awards, picked up Best R&B/Soul Album (''Ashanti'') and Best R&B/Soul Single (''Foolish'') among the female performers. Musiq won the same two prizes in the male categories, for his single ''Dontchange'' and his album ''Juslisen.''
Nelly, whose ''Nellyville'' won R&B/Soul or Rap Album of the Year, also picked up the Sammy Davis Jr. award for Entertainer of the Year. Lifetime achievement awards (named for Quincy Jones) went to Mariah Carey and LL Cool J.
