Matthew Perry will guest star on ''West Wing.'' He'll play a Republican lawyer looking for a White House job in two April episodes

Martin Sheen could use a Friend. In April, he'll get one, when Matthew Perry guest stars on ''The West Wing.'' Variety reports that Perry will play Joe Quincy, a Republican attorney seeking a job as White House associate counsel. His episodes will air April 23 and 30.

Apparently, it didn't take much campaigning to get Perry to move from NBC's Must-See Thursday to Wednesday; he's a big ''West Wing'' fan, Variety reports. His appeal could certainly help the show, whose ratings have been flagging opposite such competition as ABC's ''The Bachelorette.'' In fact, maybe Chandler is popular enough to run for office on his own, though we suspect voters might be turned off when they learn that his father is Kathleen Turner.
