Details Release Date: Mar 04, 2003; Writer: Kathy Dobie; Genre: Nonfiction

Every high school class has one: the ''bad girl'' whose overt sensuality is equally fascinating and frightening to those who feel far less steady in their adolescent bodies. Dobie was just such a girl, and in her memoir, she recounts what it was like to be 14 and wild; in her case, it turns out to be not much fun at all. As she becomes sexually active, Dobie continues to push the envelope, culminating in a moment so out of control it haunts her into adulthood. While Dobie has an important story to tell, one wishes she focused more on the aftermath of that horrific moment and less on the 14 years leading up to it.
