Who wouldn't love a feel- good cartoon complete with danger, mystery, and an Oscar-nominated Paul Simon ditty? The story revolves around Eliza Thornberry, a preteen who is blessed with a herd of friends who all happen to be animals. While on a trip to Africa with her documentarian family, poachers steal one of Eliza's furry pals, and the entire clan -- including her sarcastic teen sister and desperately-in-need-of-Ritalin younger brother -- drop everything to save him. Despite a few Velveeta moments, Thornberrys' witty dialogue and vivid characters make the crossbreed of Crocodile Hunter and The Lion King naturally entertaining.
