It was a police emergency. ''Starsky and Hutch'' starts shooting Wednesday, and the filmmakers needed someone to play the girlfriend of Owen Wilson's Hutch. To the rescue came former ''Baywatch'' lifeguard Carmen Electra. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. announced only yesterday that Electra would be hopping into the hotrod with Wilson and Ben ''Starsky'' Stiller.
The movie, to be directed by Todd Phillips (''Old School''), is based on the classic cop-sploitation series produced by Aaron Spelling from 1975 to '79, about two fast-driving, hip, young plainclothes detectives. The film, which is also set in the '70s, will tell the story of how the two teamed up. Vince Vaughn plays a drug-dealing villain, and -- in what sounds like the most apt piece of casting in any movie this year -- Snoop Dogg plays street snitch Huggy Bear.
