Snoop Dogg's convoy is hit in drive-by shooting. One of the rapper's bodyguards is shot in the back

The shizzle has hit the fan for Snoop Dogg. The rapper's caravan was hit by gunfire Thursday night in Los Angeles' Mid-City area after an apparent dispute with the riders in another car, the Associated Press reports. Snoop was not hurt, but one of his bodyguards, an off-duty police officer with the Inglewood Unified School District, was shot in the back, police said. The bodyguard was hospitalized and released Friday morning, police spokesman Sgt. Brian Owen said.

According to police, the shooter's car pulled up to Snoop's convoy around 9 p.m. Words were exchanged, then gunfire, police said. It's not clear what the argument was about, and no arrests have been made. Police questioned Snoop but do not expect to book him for a crime, Owen said.

It's not the first drive-by for Snoop. In 1993, the rapper (real name: Calvin Broadus) was charged with accessory to murder in the shooting by his bodyguard of reputed gang member Philip Woldermariam. They claimed self-defense and were acquitted in 1996.
