Originally published in 1999, Bulletproof Monk tells the tale of a young Tibetan immigrant who may be the incarnation of a mythic warrior who's part Dalai Lama, part Bruce Lee. The kinetically experimental artwork and fortune-cookie dialogue can be daunting at the outset, but have patience, grasshopper: A quirky romantic adventure with some genuine soul awaits.
