Jamie Foxx is arrested in casino scuffle. He and his sister were reportedly asked to leave, then fought with police, authorities say

Police weren't laughing at comic actor Jamie Foxx in the wee hours Friday night at a New Orleans casino. Police told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that Foxx and his sister got into a scuffle with bouncers at Harrah's Casino, and when security called the cops, blows were exchanged, and the siblings had to be subdued with pepper spray. Both were arrested, and Foxx was charged with trespassing, battery on officers and resisting arrest, while his sister, Deidra Dixon, was charged with trespassing, simple battery on officers, aggravated battery and resisting arrest.

According to police, the 35-year-old actor, his 25-year-old sister, and seven others entered the casino at 4 a.m. Saturday and refused to show ID cards indicating they were of age to gamble. Foxx and Dixon cursed at the bouncers, and Foxx splashed water from a fountain in the entry, prompting security to ask the party to leave, police said. When the group went to the gaming tables instead, Harrah's staff called the police. They still wouldn't leave, reportedly cursing out the cops. Police handcuffed Dixon, but she freed one hand and swung the cuffs, hitting one officer in the face and opening a gash above his eye. (He received stitches, while a policewoman was treated for shoulder and leg injuries, CNN reports.) Cops finally subdued Dixon with pepper spray, and after having her eyes cleaned out at a local hospital, they took the siblings to Orleans Parish Prison. Foxx was released after 20 minutes on $1,900 bond, while Dixon was released in midmorning on $6,000 bond.

After strong dramatic supporting roles in ''Any Given Sunday'' and ''Ali,'' Foxx is in New Orleans filming his first real dramatic lead role. He's playing Ray Charles in the biopic ''Unchain My Heart.'' Shooting was not interrupted by his arrest. His spokesperson has not commented on the incident.
