Justin Timberlake is going to spend a lot of time on TV not singing. According to the Associated Press, Turner Sports has hired him to be a special correspondent for sporting events on TBS and TNT, including major league baseball games, the NBA playoffs, NASCAR races, the PGA championship, and college football games. Hey, if ''American Idol'''s Kimberly Caldwell can do it (Fox Sports Net recently hired her for its show ''54321''), why not Timberlake?

''We are excited at what this unique marriage between the world of sports and entertainment can bring to our high-profile sports properties,'' Mike Pearl, executive producer for Turner Sports, said in a statement. ''Justin's interest and enthusiasm not only in the NBA, but in all sports should help provide our broadcasts with a new, fresh approach.''

Pearl didn't say how Timberlake will find the time for his Turner Sports duties. In addition to cohosting the MTV Movie Awards (with Seann William Scott) at the end of this month, the busy 22-year-old is embarking on a summer tour with Christina Aguilera.
