Kim Delaney, whose career looked to be back on track with her return to ''NYPD Blue'' next week, has checked herself into an Arizona alcohol rehab clinic, People magazine reports. The 41-year-old actress checked herself into Sierra Tucson late last month. ''Due to a stressful year, Kim made the decision to enter a program at Sierra Tucson,'' her spokesperson told the magazine.
''Stressful year'' may be putting it mildly. In early 2002, she was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after a motorist spotted her car weaving for several miles on the highway near her Malibu home. She pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving and was sentenced to two years' probation, fined $300, and ordered to take a safe-driving class. Later that spring, her new series ''Philly'' was canceled. She joined the cast of ''CSI: Miami'' as the female lead opposite fellow ''NYPD Blue'' alum David Caruso, but she was let go after 10 episodes, amid reports that she wasn't gelling with the rest of the cast. Next week's episode of ''NYPD Blue'' sees the return of her character, Diane Russell, but just as a one-shot guest spot.
