Like its predecessor, Matrix Reloaded will no doubt provide gobs of smart, metaphysical cyber-action adventure; so why is the soundtrack so dumbed down? Do the film's producers believe that its humongous audience beats with one nu-metal heart? The usual suspects -- Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie -- turn in second-rate efforts here, though the Deftones' down-tempo ''Lucky You'' finds the L.A. metal band trawling intriguing new terrain. Only Paul Oakenfold's remix of Dave Matthews' ''When the World Ends'' hints at the subversive sting this record could have delivered.
