Singer, actress, couturier, restaurateur, and now TV producer. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Lopez announced a multiyear pact to produce telenovelas for Telemundo at the Spanish-language channel's presentation Tuesday during upfront week in New York. Her first serial drama will be about a girl from the barrio who lets nothing stand in the way of her dream of stardom. Sound like anyone we know?

''I wanted to get involved in making shows for Telemundo because I am committed to creating quality shows for our culture,'' she told the audience of advertisers. ''I see this opportunity as a way to connect to the Spanish-speaking audience in a different and more profound way than I've been able to do in the past. I want to tell the stories of Latinos who grow up here and live the American Dream.''

It's not clear when Lopez's show would debut, but maybe Telemundo shouldn't hold its breath. Lopez once signed a development deal with the network's parent company, NBC, which was supposed to result in a sitcom inspired by the singer's Bronx childhood. But that was two years and two fiancés ago.
