Terence Trent D'Arby's Wild Card Joker's Edition (2002)

Details Release Date: Dec 02, 2002; Lead Performance: Terence Trent D'Arby

Whatever he calls himself now, this prodigiously gifted R&B aesthete can still craft a song as deftly as Stevie Wonder or Burt Bacharach and then sing it like an angel. On "Sweetness," the melody just melts like a kiss. Sure, D'Arby can appear pretentious and sulky, but his enigmatic music--so sunny but haunted, knowing but naive, self-assured but needy--makes him an enigma well worth our indulgence.
