THE CHART

THE ISLEYS HAVE IT

The Isley Brothers are now into their fifth decade of hits, making current top 15 habitues Cher and Fleetwood Mac seem like the relative kids they are. Until now, the Isleys' only No. 1 album was 1975's The Heat Is On, but Body Kiss joined it with a 155,000-unit first week -- thanks to a well-advertised assist from producer-songwriter R. Kelly, who, it turns out, doesn't prefer to work only with the very young. Sales as well as surf were up for Jack Johnson, whose on and on was anything but a wipeout, entering at No. 3 with 132,000 units. The latest Matrix soundtrack bowed at No. 8 with 94K, while Mother's Day shopping afforded big boosts to Norah Jones and Celine Dion.
