Al Pacino may get to indulge his taste for flamboyant, Shakespearean villains again on screen. The Oscar-winning actor, whose portrayal of Richard III was at the center of his Shakespeare documentary ''Looking for Richard,'' is in talks play Shylock in ''The Merchant of Venice,'' according to Variety. The film will shoot in September on location in Venice.
Starring alongside Pacino would be Cate Blanchett as Portia, the heroine who disguises herself as a man to outwit the moneylender Shylock in court. Also in talks to join the cast are two of Blanchett's former costars, Ian McKellen (''The Lord of the Rings'') and Joseph Fiennes (''Elizabeth''). Michael Radford (''Il Postino'') is directing.
