Robert Stack, who died of heart failure at age 84 on May 14, is best known for two roles: Eliott Ness on The Untouchables (1959 -- 63) and his own flinty self as host of Unsolved Mysteries (1987 -- 2002). He earned a supporting Oscar nod in 1956 for Written on the Wind, starred in 1952's 3-D movie Bwana Devil, and did some of his best, sharp-eyed acting in the underrated 1968 -- 71 series The Name of the Game, as the crusading editor of Crime Magazine.
