Less than a year after getting hitched, Paul McCartney and wife Heather Mills have announced that they are expecting a child later this year. They did not reveal a due date. ''We are delighted with this happy news,'' the newlyweds said in a statement.
This will be Mills' first child and McCartney's fourth. The 60-year-old former Beatle has already raised James, Mary, fashion designer Stella, and stepdaughter Heather with his late wife, Linda Eastman McCartney.
The happy news comes as a surprise, since former model Mills, 34, had revealed in an interview that she had little hopes of conceiving due to two ectopic pregnancies and a bout with cancer in her past. In any case, Mills isn’t likely to be undone by the challenges of pregnancy: She has survived a 1993 traffic accident which resulted in the amputation of her left leg below the knee, being abducted at age 8, and some reported bad vibes from daughter-in-law Stella. After that, juggling a baby and a husband who may both be in diapers at the same time doesn’t sound so hard.
