Aside from token geezer Kurt Loder, MTV stars have a built-in obsolescence not unlike that of Menudo members. So the network is smart to sign them while they're young. According to the Hollywood Reporter, MTV's latest development deal is with Ryan Pinkston, the 15-year-old (who looks about 8) sidekick to Ashton Kutcher on the network's ''Punk'd.'' He'll develop an undetermined series for the MTV, presumably one capitalizing on his gift for celebrity-targeted practical jokes.
In a break from his day job of accusing ''7th Heaven'''s Jessica Biel of abusing him and accosting red-carpet stars with outrageous interview questions, Pinkston also makes movies. He'll appear as a martial-arts-skilled hero in this summer's ''Spy Kids 3'' (he has a second-degree black belt in karate), and he's soon to shoot ''Soul Plane,'' a hip-hop-minded ''Airplane!''-type spoof, in which he'll play a member of the lone white family (Tom Arnold will play his dad) aboard an otherwise all-black flight. Snoop Dogg and Method Man star -- insert your own ''How High'' joke here.
After that? As he told Entertainment Weekly last month, ''I would love to start my own production company with my brother, Aaron, and call it Pinkston Productions. I would also like to maybe -- I don't know if this is possible, but take over Jay Leno's job. I love what he does.'' Watch your back, Jay.
