Apparently, there are no hard feelings between Spike Lee and Viacom, even though the filmmaker is suing the media giant over its move to change the name of its cable channel TNN to Spike TV. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lee and another Viacom cable channel, Showtime, are moving ahead with plans for him to direct ''SFC,'' a movie about gangs that could become a full-fledged series.
''SFC'' stands for both ''San Francisco, Calif.'' and ''Sucker-Free City.'' It's a story about clashing street gangs of white, Asian-American, African-American, and Latino teenagers. ''Picket Fences''' Kathy Baker and ''Dark Angel'''s John Savage (who had a cameo in Lee's ''Do the Right Thing'') will star as parents of one of the gangbangers.
Meanwhile, Lee has won the first round in his court battle, with a Manhattan judge granting him a temporary injunction to block the name change from TNN to Spike TV, which was to have become official on Monday. Viacom, arguing that the renaming is not an attempt to bite the director's name and reputation, is appealing the ruling.
