GREAT, KATE! Beckinsale will wed

Three months after splitting from longtime beau Michael Sheen, the father of her child, Kate Beckinsale is engaged to the man who made her fall in love with a werewolf. E! Online reports that the actress will wed Len Wiseman, the director of the September release ''Underworld,'' in which Beckinsale plays a vampire who falls for a hairy howler played by ''Felicity'''s Scott Speedman.

According to TV's ''Access Hollywood,'' Wiseman proposed over the weekend, over dinner at Whist, a restaurant at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica. Then whisked her from Whist upstairs to the hotel's presidential suite, which he had already booked and filled with lilies, her favorite flower. Lily is also the name of the ''Pearl Harbor'' star's 4-year-old daughter by Welsh actor Sheen, whom she met in 1995 but never married. Her trip down the aisle with Wiseman will be the 29-year-old's first marriage.

Beckinsale has been hanging out with monsters a lot lately. In addition to ''Underworld,'' she recently wrapped a role as a vampire hunter opposite Hugh Jackman in next summer's ''Van Helsing.'' She also has another offbeat romance coming up; in ''Tiptoes,'' she plays a pregnant woman who learns that her boyfriend (Matthew McConaughey) is the only tall person in a family of dwarfs; Gary Oldman will play his vertically challenged twin in the movie, due out by the end of this year.
