Ruben Studdard's movie debut will be scary and funny. No, he's not going to be wearing a swimsuit, like fellow ''American Idol'' stars-turned-screen actors Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson. But he will make a big splash in his first big-screen effort: ''Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.'' The ''Idol'' champ was spotted by fans on the set in Vancouver a few days ago, and the Associated Press confirms that he has a cameo in the film, due out next March.
Unlike ''From Justin to Kelly,'' which opens this Friday, the Scooby sequel is hardly a vehicle built around Ruben, who tells AP he plays no part in helping the gang unmask the movie's villain. ''I'm just in at the end of the movie,'' he says. ''I'm having a party and singing in the end. It's cool.'' No word on whether the Velvet Teddy Bear gets a scene with the Digital Great Dane, or whether Shaggy and Scooby have to fight him off over their stash of Scooby Snacks.
