Hume Cronyn, whose distinguished stage and screen career spanned seven decades, died of prostate cancer June 15 at 91. A two-time Tony and three-time Emmy winner, Cronyn was often cast with his wife of nearly 52 years, Jessica Tandy (above, who passed away in 1994). They costarred on Broadway in 1978's The Gin Game, and in many films, from 1944's The Seventh Cross (which earned him a supporting-Oscar nom) to Ron Howard's 1985 Cocoon. ''He was a man of impeccable taste, with this upbeat, can-do spirit,'' says Howard.
