Frenchie Davis may have been booted from ''American Idol,'' but host Ryan Seacrest may still give her a job -- on his upcoming daytime show. ''She's a genuine star,'' he tells TV Guide Online, suggesting that he might hire Davis and other ''Idol'' alums to serve as correspondents for his untitled series, which he calls an ''entertainment news magazine/variety show hybrid.'' The show, which will air live, launches in January to coincide with the next season of ''Idol.''

Davis, currently tearing up Broadway in ''Rent'' and cited on Entertainment Weekly's brand new 2003 IT List, was dropped as an ''Idol'' semifinalist last winter when it was revealed she'd posed for an adult website. Since then, however, she's served as a red-carpet reporter on ''Entertainment Tonight,'' which is surely good preparation for Seacrest's show. Which, by the way, does not yet have a name. ''Calling something 'The Ryan Seacrest Show' connotes talk, and this is not a talk show,'' he tells TV Guide Online. ''It may be 'Something-something with Ryan Seacrest,' but my mission is not to go out and talk about me and what I think about everything in the world. It will have some personality that is true to me, like bad clothes and things like that, but... it will be a place that you can feel totally plugged into the pop culture buzz of the day.''
