Apart from the excruciatingly catchy smash ''Never Leave You (Uh-Oooh),'' Lumidee's dismal debut offers every indication that her first hit will likely be her last. That the song produces primal magic in the club by featuring singsongy melodies riding a popular riddim (already heard on singles by Sean Paul and Wayne Wonder) seems more a case of great timing than timeless songcraft. Take away the propulsive knock-knock beat and all that remains is a chronically tone-deaf vocalist whose dissonant cooing leaves Almost Famous almost unlistenable.
