I can't believe what I'm about to write, but the first scene in The Hitcher II is one of the most clever, exciting openers in a long time. I kept waiting for the movie to commence suckiness soon after. But then a funny thing happened -- it didn't. The plot basically mirrors the first one's, as Howell (this time accompanied by B-movie babe Wuhrer) is tortured and framed by an evil hitchhiker. As said psycho, Jake Busey is no Rutger Hauer (hell, he's not even dad Gary), but director Louis Morneau (whose previous credits include stinkers like Bats and Soldier Boyz) crafts a tense enough thriller all the same. Once again, I can't believe I wrote any of this, but it's true. EXTRAS None. It's The Hitcher II.
