Remember when you were a kid, and your mom and dad harbored some insidious secret that explained their utterly unreasonable child-rearing tactics? Throw some spandex on that and you've got Runaways, wherein six teens discover their parents are actually supervillains. Scribe Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man) dresses the subversive premise with wit and astute characterization, but the poseur-manga art (by Adrian Alphona), wan and drab, does his plot few favors. Memo to American publishers fixated with the Japanese comics style: STOP!!!
