Kate Winslet's next production, due in January, is her second child. According to the Associated Press, a spokesperson for newlyweds Winslet and Sam Mendes has confirmed the ''Titanic'' star's pregnancy. ''They are both delighted with the pregnancy,'' said Chloe Dunbar, a publicist for Oscar-winning ''American Beauty'' director Mendes.
It'll be the first child for the couple, who eloped in the West Indies in May (they're currently vacationing in Italy, Dunbar says), and the second for Winslet, who has a 2-year-old daughter, Mia, by first husband Jim Threapleton. Winslet, 27, will next be seen opposite Jim Carrey in ''Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,'' due in theaters early next year. Mendes, 37, who directed the current Broadway revival of ''Gypsy,'' is reportedly planning to adapt a big-screen version of another Stephen Sondheim musical, ''Sweeney Todd,'' for DreamWorks, the studio behind Mendes' ''American Beauty'' and ''Road to Perdition.''
