No, Justin Guarini hasn't disappeared off the face of the earth. Despite the twin disappointments of his lackluster solo debut album, which has vanished from the Billboard top 200 album chart after just six weeks in stores, and his movie ''From Justin to Kelly,'' which left theaters even faster, he's still keeping up a busy schedule. The ''American Idol'' runner-up has TV appearances lined up at next month's Teen Choice Awards and Miss Teen USA pageant. And he's still out plugging his self-titled CD in interviews.
In the latest, he tells AP Radio he's still pals with the three ''Idol'' judges, whom he thanked on the liner notes of his disc. ''I thanked him for his honesty, and I promised not to tell anyone he's actually a nice guy,'' Guarini said of Simon Cowell. ''He and I have a great relationship -- we like to joke around and poke fun at each other.'' He also thanks Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul for their advice. ''It was really nice after the show [that] we could actually call each other on the phone and talk,'' he says of Abdul.
Guarini insists that he and Abdul are just friends, despite rumors that arose during the show that they were more than that. In fact, the curly-haired crooner says, he's not seeing anyone now. ''I'm [married] to this album, and I don't think it would be fair for me to date anyone. I'm a hopeless romantic, and I love being with my girlfriends. I don't have time for one at the moment, but I look forward to finding one and settling down with the right girl,'' someone with ''a wicked sense of humor.'' And an appreciation for big hair.
