Next time you get a prank phone call, the prankster at the other end of the line may be Eminem. The rapper has been busy making joke calls for the upcoming season of ''Crank Yankers,'' MTV News reports. He'll be a guest puppet on the Comedy Central series when its third season begins this fall.
Eminem, who has included prank calls in his own recordings, first showed the series some love with a shout-out during an acceptance speech at this summer's MTV Movie Awards. His manager approached Comedy Central with his request to appear on the show, a network spokesperson tells MTV. He follows a path blazed by fellow rappers Wu-Tang Clan, who appeared as puppets on the show's premiere.
''Crank Yankers'' marks Eminem's first acting role since his acclaimed turn in the autobiographical film ''8 Mile'' last year, which won him an Oscar for Best Song for ''Lose Yourself.'' He may not pick up any awards for his puppet pranks, but an insider who's heard his Comedy Central work tells the New York Post, ''It's hilarious.''
