For a person who's experienced more than his share of heart-stopping ocean adventures, six-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater offers up a raftload of dry-land moments that prove far more interesting. The former Versace model/Baywatch hunk takes us from his humble childhood in Cocoa Beach, Fla. -- he and his brothers shot household mice with BB guns -- to his swift ascension through the ranks of the surfing elite. But the waterlogged minutiae of surf competition aren't nearly as engrossing as Slater's love life (''I couldn't get Pamela Anderson out of my system''), his thoughts on The Late Late Show's Craig Kilborn (''I left thinking, 'You prick'''), or his on-set fisticuffs with fellow Baywatcher David Charvet (don't ask).
