Here Comes The Bride

As (very few) folks learned this weekend, Gigli rhymes with really -- as in really disastrous. That's how the critically savaged Ben-and-J. Lo romance looks after it eked out just $3.8 million, making it the summer's second-worst wide opener (June's From Justin to Kelly bowed at $2.7 million). What's more, Gigli arrived way behind last week's bomb, Tomb Raider 2, which dropped 48 percent (Seabiscuit and Spy Kids 3-D, on the other hand, stayed in the race). Taking the, er, cake was American Wedding, whose solid debut outdid that of American Pie (but not Pie 2). Pirates of the Caribbean, meanwhile, became 2003's fifth $200 million hit. That's rigli good.
