The Set List

Tune In, Rock Out

Why listen to music when you can watch it? Okay, that doesn't make much sense, but the point is there's tons of musical programming on TV these days. Here's a sampling of what's rocking the boob tube this week.

PEPSI SMASH (The WB, Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 9 p.m.) Jewel joins indie rockers Rooney and heavenly wonder Stacie Orrico to extol the joys of Pepsi in a concert special.

DIDO ON THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG KILBORN (CBS, Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 12:37 a.m.) Her theme song was the best part of Roswell, which, on second thought, doesn't say a whole lot.

KEEPING TIME: NEW MUSIC FROM AMERICA'S ROOTS (Sundance Channel, Thursday, Aug. 14, at 7:30 p.m.) Bluegrass trio Nickel Creek is the subject of this docu. Good for them. And you.

THE SEX PISTOLS ON JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE (ABC, Thursday, Aug. 14, at 12:05 a.m.) Johnny Rotten and Mickey Mouse -- together at last! The punk pioneers continue their great rock & roll swindle on the Disney-owned network.

VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS UNCENSORED (MTV, Saturday, Aug. 16, at noon) MTV promises to air the real story behind Axl Rose's performance at last year's VMAs, which hopefully will also include the real story behind his face.
