Haha Sound (2003)

Details Release Date: Aug 12, 2003; Lead Performance: Broadcast

Ghostly lullabies a mod mom might have sung to her child in the '60s -- that's the Sound of Brit band Broadcast's new album. Trish Keenan's woozy vocals conjure cloudy dreamscapes, and the music will leave you feeling vaguely fashionable, the same way that Stereolab's sophisticated synth work does. A telling example is ''Colour Me In,'' a placid love song that begins with fractured dissonance and melts into a wistful request: ''If green is chasing the hills over miles/If blue is pursuing the sky/See if the red of your heart doesn't mind/Where to begin to colour me in.''
