Don't go buying any place settings for Gwyneth Paltrow just yet. Her boyfriend, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, made a point of dispelling wedding rumors in an interview on England's Virgin Radio. While he didn't rule out an eventual wedding, he said, ''We are not getting married. Certainly no marriage is happening in the near future.''
Rumors had been flying about a fall wedding, about venues (the Hamptons? a castle in the U.K.?), about guests, even about who might be giving the bride away, since her father, ''St. Elsewhere'' producer Bruce Paltrow, died last year. Speculation had fallen upon family friend Steven Spielberg, but Martin said, ''Everything that is written about Steven Spielberg and Chewbacca is a load of rubbish. Darth Vader is supposed to be giving her away. It is sad because it proves you can't believe anything you read.'' (OK, Chris, but come on, a ''Star Wars''-themed wedding would have been awesome.)
Coldplay's second album, ''A Rush of Blood to the Head,'' remains in Billboard's top 15 a year after its release. The band has been on tour all summer, with Paltrow in tow. Still, Martin said, Coldplay is trying to keep a low profile because he feels that, in England at least, ''everybody hates us at the moment.'' Of course, it's hard to keep a low profile if, as he is alleged to have done last month in Australia, you smash a paparazzo's windshield with a rock after he photographs you surfing.
