Cops Rock

Colin Farrell did pretty W.E.L.L. by S.W.A.T., which earned $37.1 million -- solid for a movie with relatively little buzz -- and became the Irish star's fourth No. 1 opener of the year, after The Recruit, Daredevil, and Phone Booth. Farrell thus matches Harrison Ford's 1997 streak (which included the three Star Wars special editions and Air Force One). In second place, the Jamie Lee Curtis body-switching remake Freaky Friday premiered with an impressive $22.2 million. The much-maligned Gigli, meanwhile, dropped a monstrous 82 percent. And art houses saw Merchant Ivory's Le Divorce (No. 20) and the surfing documentary Step Into Liquid (No. 35) score tubular debuts, dude.
