Hard to believe, but for all her innovative work, Missy ''Misdemeanor'' Elliott had never won a Moonman trophy at the MTV Video Music Awards before. She made up for it at the 20th annual VMA ceremony on Thursday, earning two trophies for ''Work It,'' including Best Hip-Hop Video and the evening's top prize, Video of the Year.

''This is cooler than bubblegum for me,'' said Justin Timberlake during one of his many acceptance speeches. He was one of three artists who won three prizes each. He picked up two for ''Cry Me a River'' (Best Male and Best Dance Video) and one for ''Rock Your Body'' (Best Pop Video').

Beyonce's ''Crazy in Love'' won the Best Female Video, Best R&B Video, and Best Choreography awards. Coldplay's ''The Scientist'' earned citations for Breakthrough Video, Best Group Video, and Best Direction (for helmer Jamie Thraves). Also winning multiple Moonmen was 50 Cent, who took home Best New Artist and Best Rap Video for ''In Da Club.''
