MISTAKEN 'IDENTITY' Peet tries to get John in the Cusack
Identity: Columbia Pictures

Credits

Release Date: Apr 25, 2003; Rated: R; DVD Release Date: Sep 02, 2003; Genres: Mystery, Thriller; With: Amanda Peet, Jake Busey, John Cusack, Rebecca De Mornay and Clea DuVall...; Distributor:

On a dark and really stormy night, a roadside motel provides refuge to 10 troubled strangers (John Cusack's conflicted limo driver, Ray Liotta's snarling cop, and Amanda Peet's hoping-to-reform call girl among them) who barely dry off before the killing starts.

In Identity the formula seems stale (as does much of the dialogue), but director James Mangold (''Cop Land'') and writer Michael Cooney (''Jack Frost'') add a few fresh twists to their sharp film noir/''Psycho'' thriller: namely a seasoned cast and a story that engages the head (unlike a lot of recent scary movies -- see ''Final Destination 2'' -- that just leave the brains on the wall).

EXTRAS Trying to differentiate between the theatrical cut and the alternate ending may actually kill you.
