Adorned in snug Technicolor uniforms, Paltrow sparkles as a trailer-park tart whose dream of going places leads her (and dim pal Applegate) to flight-attendant school, where she's taken under the wing of her sky idol (the always first-class Candice Bergen). So perfect she'd be easy to hate if she weren't so damn sweet, the sunny Paltrow is about the only uplifting part of director Bruno (Bossa Nova) Barreto's brightly decorated but laughless love note to the short-skirted stewardesses of yore. EXTRAS The surprisingly interesting minidocumentary, ''History of the Flight Attendant'', reveals that the original stewardesses were registered nurses!
