Duff Enough

Now that young Hilary Duff is a bona fide pop-music star, it should only be a matter of minutes until she's making out with Madonna. But for now, fans can still enjoy the fleeting innocence on display in her not-so-dirrty debut album, ''Metamorphosis'' -- which moved up to No. 1, thanks to a less severe second-week decline than Mary J. Blige's. Duff did 131,000 in week 2, compared with 108,000 for last week's leader, love & life. The soundtrack for Duff's Lizzie McGuire movie is also showing serious stamina, at No. 15. Teen pop: It ain't going anywhere, folks.

LIMP BIZKIT Results May Vary (Flip/Interscope) With kids today favoring the tats-and-makeup packaged rebellion of bands like Good Charlotte, it'll be interesting to see if Fred Durst can get Results on the charts.

DAVE MATTHEWS Some Devil (Bama Rags/RCA) The singer's solo debut, produced by Stephen Harris (Busted Stuff), features Phish's Trey Anastasio and bassist Tony Hall (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson).

STEVE EARLE Just an American Boy: The Audio Documentary (E-Squared/Artemis) Expect the film related to this live album, which is filled with old favorites and recent tunes by the weathered folkie, later this year.

NICKELBACK The Long Road (Roadrunner) The first pressing of the rock band's latest includes a cover of ''Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting.''

IN THE STUDIO

Recent VMA honoree MISSY ELLIOTT, in Miami with Timbaland, crafting the follow-up to her double-platinum 2002 disc, Under Construction.

Elliott is also reportedly lending her production savvy to the solo CD from GWEN STEFANI, who is recording with OutKast's Andre 3000 and, word has it, Linda Perry. But Stefani's peeps are taking a ''don't speak'' approach to confirming details, so there's room for, uh, doubt.
