It's been a few years since Greg Kinnear said, ''Later,'' to NBC and left his late-late-night post for a successful movie career. Now, he's coming back, the network announced, for a guest spot on ''Friends'' during ratings sweeps month in November. The gig will give him screen time with fellow ''Friends'' guest Aisha Tyler, who, like Kinnear, got her first big break as the host of E!'s chat-show roundup, ''Talk Soup.''

Kinnear will play a Nobel Prize-winning scientist who administers a grant that paleontologist Ross (David Schwimmer) desperately wants. Complicating matters is the fact that Ross' new girlfriend, Charlie (Tyler), used to date Kinnear's character. Don't expect Kinnear to stick around as long as Tyler has, however. In December, he'll be back on the big screen, stuck (literally) to Matt Damon in the Farrelly brothers' conjoined-twins comedy, ''Stuck on You.''
