Sean ''P. Diddy'' Combs may have designed his own line of SUVs, but on Nov. 2, he'll be traveling 26 miles on foot. The hip-hop mogul announced Tuesday that he's going to run the New York Marathon in an effort to raise $1 million for charities that benefit New York City's kids. ''Every child needs quality education and health care to train for the marathon of life,'' he said at a Tuesday press conference announcing his run.
Combs will be shaking his tailfeather on behalf of the New York City public schools, the Children's Hope Foundation (which helps families affected by AIDS) and his own Daddy's House organization. Already, P. Diddy has some financial support from some big corporate sponsors, including Nike, McDonalds, Foot Locker, Pinnacle Vitamins, and MTV, and while he's also soliciting pledges from the public, he said he'll need other support as well. ''It's gonna be a rough one. Probably around the 13th mile, I'll really need your support -- water, Gatorade, whatever,'' he said.
Of course, it wouldn't be a P. Diddy event without an MTV camera in tow; the network is chronicling his training for a future special. Despite having trained for just three weeks so far, Combs vowed to finish the race even if he has to crawl. If he does manage to pant his way across the finish line, maybe he'll start calling himself ''Puffy'' again.
