Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon, 39, and husband, artist Fritz Chesnut, welcomed their first child, Stella Shannon Chesnut, Sept. 28 in New York City.

COURTS

Wonder Boy Tobey Maguire, 28, agreed to return close to $200,000 to the Cassandra Group, once headed by financial adviser Dana Giacchetto, who was convicted of diverting funds from his noncelebrity clients to repay his more famous ones. The stars were unaware of the illegal maneuvers. Maguire says he gave back the money to prevent ''the expense and delay'' of future litigation.... Elizabeth Arden spokesperson Catherine Zeta-Jones celebrated the eve of her 34th birthday Sept. 24 by filing a $5 million complaint in an L.A. court against French cosmetic company Caudalie and department store Neiman Marcus for allegedly using her name without permission. The companies did not return calls for comment.... Oscar-nominated producer Martin Poll and screenwriter Larry Cohen sued 20th Century Fox Sept. 26 in L.A., accusing the studio of stealing their ideas for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The pair, who say they discussed their concept with Fox execs in the mid-1990s, are seeking more than $100 million in damages. Fox called the case ''absurd nonsense.''... Samuel Bourdin, the son of the late fashion photographer Guy Bourdin, sued Madonna, 45, Sept. 26 in NYC for copyright infringement, claiming the singer copied 11 of his father's images -- which appeared in French Vogue from the mid-'50s through the '80s -- in her ''Hollywood'' video, and seeks unspecified damages.

AILING

Comedian Louie Anderson, 50, was recovering in an L.A. hospital Sept. 30. He admitted himself over a week ago and underwent ''necessary procedures'' for an unspecified heart problem. His agent said the performer would be back to work soon.

ARRESTS

Police arrested six security guards on the Mexican set of Warner Bros.' Troy, starring Brad Pitt, for allegedly stealing an all-terrain vehicle and tools Sept. 26. According to the AP, the group claimed that they planned to sell the goods to recover wages they hadn't received. The guards were unavailable for comment.... Diana Napolis, 47, pleaded guilty Sept. 29 to stalking actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, 24, claiming the star could read her mind and planned to harm her. Napolis was unavailable for comment.
