''Lord of The Rings'' fans might want to read the fine print on those seats they're purchasing for Wellington, New Zealand's Embassy Theater, where the world premiere of Peter Jackson's ''Return of the King'' will screen. If they think they're buying tickets for a seat at the premiere viewing, they'll be sorely disappointed to discover they're actually funding the refurbishment of the theater. Instead of a place in the premiere screening, each sponsor will get a name plaque on a seat.
Fans from across the world have purchased 613 of the total 748 sponsored seats, some for more than $1,000, according to the Associated Press. The 1920s classic moviehouse is being refurbished to screen the world premiere of ''King.'' Jackson champions the renovation, and ''LOTR'' fans were notified of the opportunity when the Embassy Theater Trust posted an ad on a fansite.
''There's a huge number of 'Lord of the Rings' fans circling looking for any kind of connection with the films -- here's one they can put their names on,'' Trust chairman Bill Sheat told AP.
