Don't give up on mainstream country music just yet; the Mavericks are back. Their first CD in five years is nonclassifiable and thus classically Mavericks, a musical tour of romance that ranges from rumba (''Shine a Light'') and '70s country rock (''By the Time'') to pink-chiffon balladry from an Eisenhower-era ballroom (''A Little Too Lonely''). Force of nature Raul Malo wraps his husky vocals around everything like he owns the copyright on heartbreak.
