In a recent Internet Movie Database poll, ''Pirates of the Caribbean'' sensation Keira Knightley swept to victory as this year's ''most babelicious movie babe.'' Sure, boys, but she's still unequipped to play Lara Antipova, a love object capable of reducing the Russian Revolution to background noise. The latest adaptation of Boris Pasternak's 1957 novel (with Hans Matheson, unrated, 225 mins., 2002, Acorn Media) is a British miniseries, with the tale's goopiness wrapped in Masterpiece Theatre-style gauze. David Lean's version has the courage to embrace its operatic schlock, and the fragile yet robust Julie Christie (with Omar Sharif, PG-13, 200 mins., 1965, Warner) may or may not qualify as babelicious, but she is intensely lovely enough to hold down such a madly sprawling epic. 2002: B- 1965:
