Justin Timberlake continues to borrow moves from Michael Jackson, and not just on the dance floor or in the recording studio. He's collaborating with Missy Elliott and producer Timbaland to compose a ''We Are the World''-style charity single, to be recorded by an all-star chorus, MTV News reports. The idea is for the song to do for AIDS awareness what the Michael Jackson-Lionel Richie composition did for African famine relief.
The idea for the song, called ''The World Is Ours,'' came from Timbaland, who recruited frequent collaborator Elliott and Timberlake, MTV reports. ''I will use the legendary model of 'We Are the World' but update it in a way that works for the trends of the music industry today,'' the producer said in a statement. ''We will create an anthem with today's most talented artists to produce a song that will bring the world's attention to the AIDS pandemic.''
Also expected to perform on the track are Bubba Sparxxx and Kiley Dean, who record for Timbaland's Beat Club label, and other artists to be named later. Look for the song and the accompanying DVD in the spring.
