Dixie Chick Martie Maguire is awaiting a big visit from the Dixie stork. She posted news of her pregnancy Monday on the band's website. ''After two and a half long (but very fun) years of trying to get pregnant, [husband] Gareth and I have finally succeeded,'' she wrote. ''Yes, we are delighted to inform y'all that I am expecting not one, but two little chicklets. TWINS! As of yet we are unsure of the sexes, as I am only just over my first trimester.''
''We were playing in Stockholm, Sweden and I asked Gareth if he would go out and buy a pregnancy test. Most of the pharmacies were closed that day. He searched all over the city and finally found a store that carried them,'' Maguire wrote. The whole band gathered after the show to see the test results, she wrote. ''There was one problem though, the test was in Swedish and we had no idea how to read the results. We ended up having to call in the local promoter to translate for us.'' Despite the positive result, she wrote, ''in the following days I took no less than five more tests just to make sure.''
Fiddler Maguire will be the last of the trio to have kids, as banjoist Emily Robison and singer Natalie Maines are moms already. ''I can't tell you what an emotional ride this road to getting pregnant has been,'' Maguire wrote. ''I know that compared to some couples' struggles, ours has been relatively easy, but I will say that we have an all new appreciation for the miracle of life.''
