Fray (Fall 2003)

Details Publisher: Dark Horse Comics

Joss Whedon taps into the mythology he created for ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer'' and spins a tale of a futuristic Chosen One. Long after the meaning of the word slayer has been forgotten (along with the word vampire), tough-but-cute career thief Melaka Fray heeds the call of destiny when demons once again threaten to take over the world. While the original run of this miniseries suffered from a slow start and a wildly erratic publication schedule (to put it mildly), the collected edition will allow readers to enjoy all the laughs, thrills, and twists without interruption. Plus, it's got flying cars.
