Is David Spade the new John Ritter? Not quite, but the former ''Just Shoot Me'' star will appear in two or three upcoming episodes of ''8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter,'' according to the Hollywood Reporter. Spade's role will be that of a relative of the family in the show, which is mourning the loss of Ritter's father character. Spade, who may be planning a return to TV next year in a new show, most recently appeared in ''Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.''
Already rocked by the unexpected loss of Ritter, ''8 Simple Rules'' is experiencing addition behind-the-scenes turmoil, according to Variety. Exec producer Flody Suarez was fired from the show this week, after disagreements with other producers, the trade paper reported. The paper couldn't reach Suarez for comment.
