For a half-hour of ''Friends,'' NBC pays Jennifer Aniston $1 million. For leaking unauthorized snapshots of Aniston sunbathing topless, photographer Francois Navarre will pay her $550,000 in an out-of-court settlement. So her publicist said Thursday, according to wire service reports.
The shots were taken in 1999 by a paparazzo who scaled an 8-foot wall at Aniston's Malibu home and photographed her with a high-powered telephoto lens as she tanned in her backyard. They were published in American porn magazines Celebrity Skin, High Society and Celebrity Sleuth, all of which settled with Aniston out of court last year, as well as in several European magazines.
Aniston publicist Stephen Huvane said the terms of her settlement with Navarre require her to accept his claim that he wasn't the shutterbug who snapped the illicit shots, though he has apologized to her for transmitting the pictures to a photo agent in Italy, who then sold them to the European magazines. Huvane said that Navarre's insurance carrier would pony up $450,000 of the settlement, while Navarre would have to cough up the last $100,000 himself.
